Mount Enterprise ISD celebrated Veterans Day on Monday, November 12
Mount Enterprise ISD celebrated Veterans Day on Monday, November 12. The entire school gathered in the gymnasium for an assembly dedicated to our Veterans. This assembly was brought to us by the Mount Enterprise Fine Arts Department.
The assembly began with the presentation of the flag and a speech by Mount Enterprise senior, Mikayla Whitlow, which followed with the bands performance of “The Star Spangled Banner”. Junior Tanner Fitzgerald then gave a speech about the history of the pledge of allegiance, the Mount Enterprise preschoolers led the pledge, and the band played “America the Beautiful”. Junior Callie Holliman next gave a speech about the date, November 11, and what it means to our country, which followed by the band performing “Amazing Grace”. The elementary choir performed a selection entitled, “On Veterans Day”, warming the hearts of the audience. Retired Marine Corporal Kenneth Miley was the guest speaker for the ceremony. He described the comradery with his fellow servicemen, and his honor to serve with the different branches of the military. Mikayla Whitlow next introduced the armed forces while the band played each branches march in “Marches of the Armed Forces”. Callie Holliman closed the assembly with a sincere thanks to the veterans for their sacrifices and service.
“We think it is important for the student body to understand the significance of serving our country and we also want to use our talents to honor our local veterans. There is no better way to do that than a Veterans Day Assembly,” said Jeff Bellgardt, Mount Enterprise Band Director.
