Honoring the life and service to our country of US Army World War II Veteran Staff Sergeant Arvell Pate on the 9th year of his passing. Son of William Bruce and Ida Powdrill Pate and husband of Dorothy Hendricks Pate. He enlisted on November 21, 1940 and served in the European Theater. Awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. His brother Pershing Pate was killed in action in June 1944. He and wife Dorothy rest in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.
