Bears take ten run win over Wildcats

Last Monday the Timpson Bears took a 12-2 road win over the Mount Enterprise Wildcats baseball team which raised the Bear’s District 23 2A record to 8-2. The Bears are currently in sole possession of second place in their conference with four games left.
Mount Enterprise scored first in the bottom half of the first inning on a score by Shannon. Timpson answered on an RBI single by Cutter Smith which tied the game at 1-1 in the second frame. Shannon scored again in the bottom half of the third inning and gave MEHS a 2-1 lead.
Timpson scored two run in the fifth inning and did not relinquish the lead after that point. The Bears added two more runs in the sixth inning and seven more in the seventh inning which ended the game one out short of a full game due to the district’s ten-run-rule.
Bear Hunter Smith pitch six and 2/3 innings for Timpson and struck out 11 Wildcat batters.
Blair Warren pitched six innings for the Wildcats and recorded nine strikeouts. Patrick Sanders pitched two outs and struck out one Bear batter.
Brandon Torres and Chandler Burgay led the Bears with two hits. Teammate Cutter Smith had three RBI’s, and James Marshall added three walks.
Blair Warren led the Wildcats offense with two hits and two walks. Ty Grubbs walked twice.
On Tuesday THS fell to 8-3 when they lost to the visiting Gary Bobcats by a 4-5 score. Hunter Smith led the team with three hits and an RBI. Brandon Torres pitched six innings and recorded eight strikeouts.
Landon Odom pitched five innings for Gary and struck out nine batters.
 
The Bears out hit the Bobcats 11-7 but had six fielding errors on the day. Timpson will travel to Beckville to face the conference unbeaten Bearcats on Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m.
