Harris resigns as Tenaha City Manager
Natalie Harris read her letter of resignation as Tenaha City Manager, effective June 10, 2019, at the end of the City Council meeting held at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019. She addressed her letter to “Mayor Baker and Tenaha City Council.”
In part, the letter stated, “I have immeasurably enjoyed the opportunity to serve the City of Tenaha over the past four years in the capacity of a concerned citizen, city council Mayor Pro-Tem (two terms) and lastly as City Manager.
“However, the time has come for me to move on and focus on my health, family and other person goals. I am, therefore, resigning from my post of City Manager effective June 10, 2019…”
In other business, the votes from the May 4 Election were canvassed, with Lee Gibbs and incumbents, Craig Gray and Durand Steadman elected to the City Council. With this approved, Mayor Michael Baker administered the oaths of office to the new Council members.
Agenda items approved were:
April 2019 Minutes and April 2019 Financials;
Citizen Participation Plan for the City of Tenaha;
Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Tenaha and the Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department for the 2019 Fire, Ambulance & Service Truck (FAST). Upon receipt of the $500,000 grant, the Tenaha VFD will pay $5,000 to the City of Tenaha; and
Resolution Authorizing Submission of the 2019 Fire, Ambulance and Service Truck (FAST) Fund for the City of Tenaha.
Under Department Head Reports, Police Chief Jeremy Pope reported that there were 265 citations issued, 130 warnings, 57 calls, and 12 arrests made during the month of April 2019.
Municipal Court Judge Elizabeth Swint reported that collections totaling $46,670.85 were made in April 2019.
Mayor Baker commended the Officers and Chief Pope for the professionalism shown in various incidents in the past month.
Council member Florance Adams thanked the Chief Pope and his officers for the Mother’s Day flowers distributed.
