Wildcats preparing for football season with scrimmages
The Mount Enterprise Wildcats have started their preparations for this year's football season with conditioning workouts, strength and football skills drills, and scrimmages.
First year Rams head football coach Wade Lawson will be looking to 21 returning lettermen to lead the way on this year's Joaquin varsity football team. The Rams return eight offensive starters on the team, and nine defenders. The Rams varsity has around 30 total players this season but has a sizeable junior varsity team to draw from if called upon.
After a 4-6 season last year, and a 57-13 first round playoff loss to Franklin High School, the Garrison Bulldogs football team wants to make changes to their team that would return them to where they were in 2013. Two seasons ago, the Bulldogs went 11-1 before being uprooted by state ranked Centerville ISD in the second round of the playoffs.
Tigers fighting to keep winning ways
The Tenaha Tigers have expectations set high for them in 2015. THS has made it to the state semifinal round of the UIL football playoff for the past four consecutive years. In 2011 the Tigers took home the Class 1A Division II title, went back to the title game but fell short in 2012, and went back to the semifinal round in 2013 and 2014, losing to Bremond last year by a narrow 32-29 score and finishing their season with an 11-2 record.
