Rams looking to veteran players in 2015

 

First year Rams head football coach Wade Lawson will be looking to 21 returning lettermen to lead the way on this year's Joaquin varsity football team. The Rams return eight offensive starters on the team, and nine defenders. The Rams varsity has around 30 total players this season but has a sizeable junior varsity team to draw from if called upon.

Garrison Bulldogs looking for redemption

After a  4-6 season last year, and a 57-13 first round playoff loss to Franklin High School, the Garrison Bulldogs football team wants to make changes to their team that would return them to where they were in 2013. Two seasons ago, the Bulldogs went 11-1 before being uprooted by state ranked Centerville ISD in the second round of the playoffs.

Tigers fighting to keep winning ways

The Tenaha Tigers have expectations set high for them in 2015. THS has made it to the state semifinal round of the UIL football playoff for the past four consecutive years. In 2011 the Tigers took home the Class 1A Division II title, went back to the title game but fell short in 2012, and went back to the semifinal round in 2013 and 2014, losing to Bremond last year by a narrow 32-29 score and finishing their season with an 11-2 record.

Timpson Bears ready to see where they stand

Last year the Timpson Bears struggled in pre-district play and went into conference play with a very unimpressive 0-4 record before winning two straight District 11 Class 2A games to begin conference play. Timpson eventually went 4-1 in league play and won their first playoff matchup with Evadale in a thrilling 45-39 win before being unseated by Chilton 33-7 in the second round of post-season play.

SCBA wrapping up a busy August

The Shelby County Bass Anglers wrapped up a busy month of August down at Holly Park Marina on Toledo Bend. Due to high water temps and excessive heat, the club voted to conduct an early weigh in at 2pm to preserve the health of the bass for a quick release after weigh in. 33 teams of anglers showed up to brave the heat, and storms that blew across the lake on Saturday afternoon.
