Tigers winless at midway point

Last Friday, the Tenaha Tigers varsity football team found themselves trailing 25-0 in the first half to the Santo Wildcats, on their way to suffering a 32-6 loss, and going 0-5 for the first time since the 2004 -05 season.
 Santo’s tailback Dustin Montelongo gained 191 yards on just 10 carries, and scored two touchdowns during the Wildcat’s win at Corsicana. Santo rushed for 382 yards as a team.

Rams beat Bears, head to showdown with Dragons

The Joaquin Rams varsity football team never let the Timpson Bears into last Friday's JHS Homecoming game, and ultimately came away with a convincing 40-14 win. Joaquin used 488 yards of offense. An early 5-yard touchdown, and a 2-point conversion each by Hunter Harper gave Joaquin a 8-0 lead by the 8:10 mark of the first period. Joaquin used a 5-yard score by Kase Yates and a 51-yarder by Nate Belrose to take a 22-0 lead by the conclusion of the first period of play.

County anglers compete at state championship

The Shelby County Bass Anglers competed in the Texas Association of Bass Clubs State Championship last weekend on Lake Falcon Reservoir out of Zapata on the Texas/Mexico border. Each club team consisted of the top eight anglers from their organizations fishing 2 men per boat. The TABC championship consisted of twenty six 4 boat teams from all across the state fishing for two days total combined team weights, but only calculating the top three weights daily for each club.
