The Center Roughriders football team won their fifth game in a row, last Friday, when they beat the Spring Hill Panthers 56-10 during Center’s Homecoming game, and first District 6 Class 4A contest of the season. Center has now moved their overall season mark to 5-1 and haven’t lost since a 34-22 loss to Class 3A Waskom on the opening day game played on August 28. Spring Hill now falls to 0-6 on the season.
The Joaquin Rams dropped to 4-2, and 0-1 in District 10AA Division 1 competition at Ram Stadium Friday night, losing to a very good Shelbyville squad by a final score of 48-0. Although a very strong defensive effort kept the Rams in the game for the first half, they were never able to sustain a drive against a stout Shelbyville defense, and eventually, the floodgates opened. Shelbyville scored 41 second half points against a tired Ram defense.
The Garrison Bulldogs varsity football team improved to 4-2 overall, and 1-0 in District 11 Class 3A play last Friday. The game was a 27-0 Homecoming win over the Hemphill Hornets, played at Garrison High School.
Garrison compiled 182 yards rushing and quarterback Charles Bass threw for 101 yards passing.
