Wolves End Tigers Season With 43-17 Win
The Tenaha Tigers came into the season after losing in the State Championship game last year and graduating 16 players off of last years team with high expectations. The so called experts in Texas High School Football didn't give the Tigers much chance of making the playoffs, especially going into round 4. But the Tigers proved everyone wrong as they went farther then anyone in the district.
The Wolves received the opening kickoff and started on the 46 yard line. It took the Wolves 6 plays to score as Kevorian Barnes went 34 yards for the touchdown and the Wolves would lead 7-0. The Tigers would then put on a 14 play drive that would end at the Wolves 23 yard line. The Tigers would get on the board with 6:07 left in the 2nd quarter as Jay Lloyd would go 10 yards for a Tiger touchdown. After Franks picked off a Wolves pass the Tigers would take over on the 49 yard line. The Tigers would then go on a 10 play drive capped off by a one yard touchdown run by Lloyd and the Tigers would lead 14-7. After a short kickoff the Wolves would score on a 53 yard run by Barnes, the PAT was no good and the Tigers would lead 14-13 going into halftime.
The Tigers would received the 2nd half kickoff and put up a 10 play drive that would stall at the 10 yard line, Castillo would come in and kick a 28 yard field goal and the Tigers would lead 17-13 with 8:26 left in the 3rd quarter. With 5:05 left in the 3rd quarter Barnes would score again on a 43 yard run to put the Wolves up 21-17. Thomas would add a 98 yard run to bring the score to 27-17 after 3 quarters of play. The Wolves would add to more touchdowns in the 4th quarter to bring the final score to 43-17.
Congratulations to Coach Jenkins and his staff for a 10-4 season. And a big congratulations to the players that showed everyone the Tigers don't rebuild they just reload.
