Tenaha Smash West Sabine Tigers, 65-0
When your offense runs 44 plays on the night and you average 13.3 yards per play and your opponent runs 53 plays and averages 1.2 yards per play there is going to be a big difference in the score and that is what happen Friday night in West Sabine as the Tenaha Tigers improved to 5-0 on the year with a 65-0 win.
CJ Horn was 12-14-0 for 298 yards and 4 touchdown passes, while Cody Foshee caught 4 passes for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns and Trai Gardner caught 6 passes for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Tenaha won the toss and deferred to the second half, after the Tiger defense held West Sabine to a 3 and out the Tigers scored on the first play as Horn hit Foshee on a 65 yard touchdown pass, Castillo kicked the PAT and the Tigers led 7-0 with 10:29 left in the first quarter. After 3 straight incomplete passes by West Sabine the Tigers took over after the punt on the 41 yard line. On the first play Horn hit Gardner on a 40 yard pass down to the one yard line from their Thompson carried it in for the touchdown and the Tigers led 14-0. After a exchange of punts by both teams, West Sabine moved the ball to the Tigers 17 only to turn the ball over on downs. After a 11 yard pass to Gardner to move the ball to the 32, Jay Lloyd took the hand off and went 68 yards for the touchdown to bring the score to 21-0. With 2:02 left in the first quarter Gardner went in from the 45 yard line and the Tigers led 28-0 after the first quarter.
The Tigers again forced a West Sabine punt and it only took the Tigers 2 plays to score as Horn hit Foshee on a 48 yard touchdown pass and the Tigers led 35-0. With 7:26 left in the second quarter Horn hit Gardner on a 52 yard touchdown pass and the Tigers led 42-0. The Tigers held West Sabine and forced a punt, Lloyd picked up the ball on the 15 yard line and went 85 yards for the apparent touchdown, but it was called back for a block in the back. The Tigers took over a the 25 yard line and then went on a 9 play 75 yard drive capped off by a 3 yard touchdown pass from Horn to Gardner. After a interception by JT Calloway that bought the ball to the 2 yard line, Thompson went in for the touchdown and the Tigers increased their led to 56-0 at halftime.
The Tigers received the second half kickoff and went 62 yards in 5 plays as Garrett went in from the 25 yard line, the PAT was no good and the Tigers led 62-0 With 8:59 left in the 3rd quarter.With the Tigers playing most of their backups, Castillo kicked a 25 yard field goal with 11:14 left in the 4th quarter.
The Tigers racked up 583 yards on the night and held West Sabine to 59 yards. The Tigers who are now 5-0 was suppose to start district play next week, but Mt. Enterprise has cancelled the game due to like of players, The Tigers are in the process of picking up a game as it is the annual homecoming. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 but could change depending on opponent.
