Garrison ISD Football

Thursday Night Football Garrison, TX.  Tonight the Bulldogs ended the 2019 regular season hosting Legacy The School of Sports Sciences of Spring, TX.  In the first quarter the Bulldogs and Titans traded licks stopping the other side but the Dogs were getting the best of things.  At 4:53 of the 1st Andy Marquez tried a 41 yard FG that fell just short but on their next possession the Jr. kicker made true on a 35 yarder to put Garrison up 3-0.  This at the 1:53 mark.  The Bulldog defense did not surrender a first down until halfway through the second only giving up 4 before it ended.  After the Titans lost the ball on a fumble for the third time Cermodrick Bland hit Canyon Holmes at the goal line on a 26 yard strike to go ahead 9-0.  The wet conditions proved too much to handle the snap on the try so the score remained there midway through regulation.  In the 3rd the Dogs got the ball first and stalled on 3 plays then adding insult to injury the snap on the punt slipped out of the center’s hands and never made it to the punter.  The Titans took over at the Garrison 29 and took it to the Bulldogs 1 where a 4 down stand held off a Titans bid.  From there Garrison remained pinned back for the rest of the quarter and staving off the Titans.  In the 4th Legacy finally put together a drive capped by a 34 yard TD pass from Dadrian Elldridge to Bradley Bowlin and a 2 point conversion added to close it to 9-8.  Garrison took the ball on downs late and with :40 left in the game gave it back deep in Titan territory where with :02 left the Bulldogs picked a pass to ice a 9-8 victory.  Turnovers—Legacy 5. Garrison 1.  Garrison improves to 5-5 and will face Groveton Thursday in Rusk if Beckville defeats Timpson tomorrow night.  If Timpson wins Garrison will take on San Augustine at Nacogdoches Friday in round 1 playoff action.
