Tigers Beaten By Bearcats 35-28
Saturday was a day that everyone has been looking forward to as the Tigers took on the Beckville Bearcats in their annual homecoming game. It was not the results the Tigers where looking far as they where defeated by the Bearcats 35-21. With the loss the Tigers drop to 1-1 in district play while the Bearcats go to 1-0.
The Bearcats received the opening kickoff and drove down the field but came up short on a field goal attempt. After the Tigers could not get a first down and had to punt the Bearcats would drive down the field and score on a 3 yard run by Barr and the Bearcats would take the early lead 7-0 with 3:58 left in the 1st quarter.
After the Bearcats held the Tigers again Harris would hit Barr on a 35 yard touchdown pass and the Bearcats would lead 14-0 with 1:15 left in the 1st quarter. The Bearcats would extend their lead to 21-0 with a 12 yard pass from Harris to Allen with 7:06 left in the second quarter. The Tigers would get on the board with 4:39 left in the second quarter on a 16 yard by Marshall to bring the score to 21-7. The Tigers would score again with :18 left in the 2nd quarter on a 3 yard pass from Jenkins to Hogg and the Bearcats would lead 21-14 at halftime.
The Tigers would tie the score with 10:45 left in the 3rd quarter on a 22 yard run by Patton. The Bearcats would then take over the lead on a 8 yard pass from Allen to Harris with 11:52 left in the 4th quarter. With 8:02 left in the 4th quarter the Bearcats would score again on a 42 yard pass from Harris to Barr. The Tigers would turn around and score on a 15 yard pass from Jenkins to Tutt to bring the score to 35-28. The Tigers recovered a Bearcat fumble and one last chance to tie the score but calms up short.
The Tigers will have a open date this week and then travel to Harleton to take on the Wildcats the following week.
