City of Tenaha honors Police Department
The City of Tenaha held a special Ribbon Cutting for the Tenaha Police Department on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Tenaha ISD Cafetorium. Special guest speakers were State Representative Chris Paddie and the Honorable LeAnn Rafferty, Judge of the 123rd Judicial District. Special performer was Dave Evans, original voice of the rock group AC/DC.
Mayor Pro Tem Natalie Harris welcomed guests to the ceremonies. Prayer was offered by Police Sergeant Joey Hudnall; and Chief of Police Jeremy H. Pope talked on the subject, “Why We Are Here.”
Representative Paddie presented a flag that had flown over the Capitol Building in Austin to James Moore, a long-time law enforcement official. He was presented with a special plaque by the City of Tenaha and the Tenaha Police Department for his years of service.
Mayor Pro Tem Harris and Chief Pope presented a number of plaques to various individuals who had given their support and assistance in the task of switching Tenaha from a Marshal’s Office to a Police Department. Besides Chief Pope, Tenaha has three officers – Sergeant Hudnall, Robert “Bobby” Carlsen, and Jonathan Newton.
Chief Pope presented Dave Evans with an honorary police officer badge; and Mayor Pro Tem Harris awarded Evans with a plaque bearing the Key to the City of Tenaha. The musical highlight of the afternoon was a hit song of AC/DC performed by Dave Evans with accompaniment by several members of area law enforcement and fire departments.
