Sheriff Lake's Report: March 1, 2019 - March 7, 2019
3/1/19 Deputy Jeremy Nagle was dispatched to the Beckville area in reference to a male subject, possibly intoxicated, driving around in a parking lot. Upon arrival Deputy Nagle located the vehicle and the male driver. Deputy Nagle approached the vehicle and advised the driver to turn off and exit the vehicle. The male subject ignored orders and Deputy Nagle observed him frantically looking around inside the vehicle. After several attempts, Deputy Nagle was able to get the subject to comply with his commands. Deputy Nagle observed the subject's behavior to be erratic and when asked simple questions the subject would not answer. Deputy Richard Mojica and K-9 Roxie arrived at the location and after receiving a positive alert from Roxie a search of the vehicle was conducted. While searching deputies located a glass pipe containing a white powdery substance believed to be speed inside the dashboard. The subject was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was then transported to the Panola County Detention Center.
Deputy Joshua was dispatched to a residence on CR 125 in reference to an assault that had already occurred. Upon arrival Deputy Nagle met with the complainant who appeared to be in distress and had apparent injuries on her neck and mouth. The complainant stated that her husband had woken her up by screaming into her ear and accusing her of spitting in his face while she was talking . Complainant advised that at that time she decided to actually spit in his face.
Complainant stated that immediately after performing the action her husband struck her two times, the first time in her neck and the second time in her mouth. Complainant advised that when she
retreated and grabbed her phone, the suspect smashed the cell phone by breaking it in half while it was in her hand, causing a minor laceration on her hand. Deputy Nagle then made contact with the husband who denied putting his hands on the complainant. After interviewing both parties, Deputy Nagle placed the husband under arrest for assault/family violence. Before being transported to the Panola County Detention Center, the suspect advised Deputy Nagle that he only struck his wife one time and that it was in self-defense. Information will be forwarded to the DA's office.
Reserve Deputy Chadd Gray was dispatched to CR 322 in reference to a burglary that had already taken place. Upon arrival Deputy Gray met with complainant who stated that he has two cabins that unknown actor(s) broke int o. Complainant advised that one of the doors to the cabin had the front window broken as well as one of the double paned windows where the suspect(s) attempted to make entry into the building. Complainant advised that all of the screens were removed from two cabins and the latches on the window were broken where entry to the second cabin was made. Complainant stated that the actor(s) stole three chainsaws, a battery powered blower and a Cen-Tech Brand 5 in 1 jump box. This case is being investigated.
3/3/19 Deputy Jacob Samford responded to a residence in the Beckville area in reference to a report of assault, criminal mischief and theft. Upon
arrival Deputy Samford met with the complainant who stated that -r"'-
were arguing because she no longer wanted to date him. Complainant stated that they continued to argue and the subject head-butted her two times on her forehead and then left the residence. Complainant advised that the subject came back a short time later and dragged her outside, down the street while simultaneously stating that he was going to harm her. Complainant advised that the subject got inside of her vehicle for a short time
then got out and left the residence. Complainant advised that when she looked inside her vehicle she noticed that the contents of her purse had been thrown into the passenger seat of her vehicle and her purse was gone. She also noticed the button for her sunroof was broken off and her phone was missing. Complainant advised that the subject also broke her car key in half. All information has been forwarded to the DA's office.
3/4/19 Deputy Calahan Malone was dispatched to the Deberry area in reference to a female subject standing outside a store . Upon arrival Deputy Malone made contact with the female subject who stated that her boyfriend had left her stranded at the store. Due to the cold weather Deputy Malone offered the subject a courtesy ride. At that time Deputy Malone advised the subject that for officer he would have to check her purse to make sure there were no weapons or illegal contraband inside it. The subject consented, but before handing over her purse Deputy Malone observed her retrieve a small metal container from inside. Deputy Malone questioned her about the container to which the subject admitted to having marijuana.
Deputy Malone then checked inside the container and located a small plastic baggie with several burnt marijuana roaches, a small blue straw and a small piece of plastic baggie with a crystal like substance I believed to be methamphetamine. The subject was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
While on patrol Deputy Richard Mojica initiated a traffic stop on a male subject whom he knew to be driving with a suspended dr iver' s license. Deputy Mojica then made contact with the male subject and observed a rifle at the passenger side. Deputy Mojica asked the subject to exit the vehicle for officer safety . Deputy Mojica then asked for and received consent to search the vehicle. While searching, Deputy Mojica located a small green plastic box containing what he believed to be methamphetamine residue. Deputy Mojica placed the subject under arrest and transported him to the Panola County Detention Center.
3/5/19 Deputy Chris Dickerson responded to a residen ce in the Beckville area. Upon arr ival, Deputy Dickerson met with the complainant who stated that his daughter showed up to the residence causing
pro blems. Complainant stated that he opened the front door to allow her to retrieve some propert y. After opening the door complainant advised that the subject continued to cause a scene and argue with him before she kicked the door wide open. As a result of her kicking the door, complainant advised that it hit him in the head and then slammed into the wall causing damage to the wall. Deputy Dickerson observed two holes in the wall that lined up with the door knob and dead bolt lever. All information has been forwarded to the DA's office.
While completing a courtesy ride to a stranded pedestrian , Deputy Joshua Nagle obser ved a male subject exiting a vehicle . Deputy Nagle knew the subject by sight as someone he had made several attempts to make contact with in reference to a stolen vehicle. Deputy Nagle ran a check on the license plate through dispatch which confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen. Deputy Nagle then made contact with the male subject placed him under arrest for UUMV and transported him to the Panola county Detention Center.
Deputy Joshua Nagle was dispatched to a theft in progress at a store on FM 1970. Upon arrival Deputy Nagle met with the complainant who stated that a male and female subject were inside the store and she observed the male subject on camera putting a lighter in his
pocket. Deputy Nagle made contact with the male subject and questioned him about the lighter. The male subject advised that he had placed the lighter in his pocket by mistake. Deputy Nagle had both subjects exit the store in order to identify them and continue his investigation. While speaking with the male subject, Deputy Nagle suspected him to be under the influence of some type of stimulant.
Deputy Nagle requested Deputy Richard Mojica and K-9 Roxie to his location. After receiving a positive alert from Roxie, a search of the vehicle was conducted. While searching deputies located the female subject's purse which contained suspected marijuana cigarettes and a glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine residue.
Deputies also located two bags, one of which contained an assortment of drug paraphernalia, suspected marijuana and a plastic freezer bag containing suspected methamphetamine. The other bag contained numerous tools with the serial numbers rubbed off and numerous ID's, none of which belonged to either subject. Numerous electronic devices were also located inside the vehicle. Both subjects were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
3/7/19 Deputy Phillip Grimes took a report of theft that occurred on FM 699.
Complainant stated that some unknown actor(s) gained entry onto the location by cutting the lock from the gate. Complainant advised that once on the property, the actor(s) stole a 12-volt battery. This case is under investigation.
