Sheriff Lake's Report: April 26, 2019 - May 2, 2019

FRIDAY 4/26/19 

Deputy Phillip Grimes made contact with a complainant at a convenience store. The complainant stated that while conducting his inspection of the fuel pumps he located an electronic skimmer. Photos were taken of the device and it was disconnected. The device was secured in an evidence bag. 

SATURDAY 4/27/19 

Deputy Phillip Grimes responded to a residence on FM 1794 in reference to a report of UUMV. Upon arrival Deputy Grimes met with the complainant who stated that her vehicle was parked in front of her residence and the keys were accidentally left inside. Complainant advised that sometime during the night, unknown actor(s) stole her vehicle. Complainant stated that there is a Lo-Jack feature on the vehicle and it was showing a location in Caddo Parish. The vehicle was immediately entered into TCIC/NCIC, and teletype was sent. PCSO was later notified by Caddo Parish that the car was found and in possession of the owner. 

Deputy Phillip Grimes took a report of burglary of a building that occurred on FM 2517. Complainant stated that unknown actor(s) entered his shed and removed a Porter Cable drill set containing a 1/2-inch drill motor and 3/8-inch hammer drill. This case is being investigated. 

SUNDAY 4/28/19 

Deputy Jeff Martin responded to a residence on CR 323 in reference to a report of criminal mischief. Upon arrival, Deputy Martin met with the complainant who stated that a friend of his was at the residence and became belligerent and started hitting him with an umbrella while he was lying on the couch. Complainant advised that the subject then went outside the residence and picked up a bat and began breaking a window on the residence and his pickup truck. Complainant stated that when he called 911 the subject got in her vehicle and left the residence. All information will be forwarded to the DA's office. 

MONDAY 4/29/19 

Deputy Heather Green took a report of burglary of a vehicle that occurred on CR 4035. Complainant stated that some unknown actor(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her Louis Vuitton purse and wallet. Complainant advised that the actor(s) also entered her son's truck and stole his wallet containing his license and $150.00. This case is under investigation. 

TUESDAY 4/30/19 

Deputy Robert Duncan and Flatwoods VFD responded to CR 4465 in reference to a camper trailer that was on fire. Upon arrival Deputy Duncan spoke with the owner who stated that she let her dog out this morning and when she heard her dog continuously barking she looked out back and saw that her RV was on fire. The owner advised that the trailer wasn't hooked up to any power, nor did it have an LP gas turned on. The trailer has been sitting at the location for approximately one year. Deputy Hollie Mojica took a report of burglary of a vehicle that occurred on CR 4035. Complainant stated that some unknown actor(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her.38 caliber handgun and her husband's tipless workout gloves. This case is under investigation. 

WEDNESDAY 

5/1/19 Deputy Chris Dickerson responded to CR 108 in reference to a report of terroristic threat. Upon arrival Deputy Dickerson met with the complainant who stated when she went with her husband to pick up his son, her husband's ex came out of the house and began yelling and threatening to hurt her. Complainant advised that she and her husband got into their vehicle and at that time the subject approached the vehicle and began beating on the windshield while cursing and screaming. All information will be forwarded to the DA's office. 

Deputy Joshua Nagle was dispatched to a residence on CR 328 in reference to a vehicle that had been stolen. Upon arrival Deputy Nagle made contact with the complainant who stated that his 2003 Ford Taurus had been stolen by some unknown person(s). Complainant advised that the spare key had been removed from his keychain, leading him to believe it was taken by someone he knew. The vehicle was entered as stolen in TCIC/NCIC. 

THURSDAY 5/2/19 

While on patrol Deputy Dickerson observed a male subject who he knew by sight get into the driver's seat of a vehicle. Deputy Dickerson knew the subject to not possess a valid driver's license and after receiving confirmation from dispatch, Deputy Dickerson attempted to initiate a stop on the vehicle. Deputy Dickerson observed the subject pull off the roadway as if going to stop, but then return to the roadway. 

The subject continued driving and exceeding the speed limit in an attempt to get away. The subject then eventually slowed down and pulled over. The male subject along with the female passenger both exited the vehicle and were read the rights per Miranda. The male subject was placed under arrest for evading arrest/detention with a vehicle. During an inventory of the vehicle a handgun was located between the driver's seat and center console. A criminal history check confirmed that male subject was a convicted felon and has prior convictions for evading with a vehicle. Deputy Jacob Samford transported the subject to the Panola County Detention Center where he was booked for evading arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm.
