Sheriff Lake's Report: 08-31-2018 - 09-06-2018

FRIDAY, 8/31/18

 

Deputy Jeremy Nagle took a report of a theft that occurred on CR 301. Complainant stated that some unknown actor(s) came onto the location and stole a 12-volt battery. This case is being investigated.

 

SATURDAY, 9/1/18

 

While on patrol, Deputy Travis Curry initiated a stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation.  Deputy Curry then approached and made contact with two male subjects and two female subjects. Deputy Curry spoke with all four subjects and noted inconsistencies with each of their stories in reference to where they had come from and where they were headed. After receiving consent, Deputy Curry had all subjects exit the vehicle and began conducting a search of the vehicle. Deputy Curry observed one of the female subjects to be holding something under her clothing. When asked to remove it, the female subject handed over a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue inside and two contaminated syringes full of clear liquid believed to be methamphetamine. Deputy Curry detained the female subject and continued searching the inside of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle three cigarettes with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana were located. A backpack containing brass knuckles and two glass pipes containing suspected methamphetamine was also located. The second female subject advised Deputy Curry that the suspected marijuana cigarettes and backpack belonged to her. Both female subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Panola County Detention Center.

 

Deputy Jeff Martin responded to a residence in reference to an assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, Deputy Martin met with the complainant who stated that her boyfriend had assaulted her and threatened her while holding a shovel. Complainant advised that she got away from him and ran to her neighbor's house. Deputy Martin went to the residence where the assault occurred to speak with the suspect. Deputy Martin was advised that the suspect had left out the back door of the residence. Deputy Jeremy Nagle and Trooper Brandon Norman arrived to assist in searching for the suspect. The suspect was located a short time later lying in the woods a short distance from the residence. The suspect was placed in custody for the assault and a records check revealed he was also wanted out of Caddo Parish for Simple Battery. The suspect was transported to the Panola County Detention Center.

 

SUNDAY, 9/2/18

 

MONDAY, 9/3/18

 

Deputy Phillip Grimes took a report of theft that occurred on CR 258. The complainant stated that some unknown actor(s) came onto the property and stole five 12-volt Odyssey batteries.  This case is being investigated.

 

Deputy Travis Curry responded to Hwy 79 N. in reference to a theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, Deputy Curry met with the complainant who stated that while he had his truck parked, some unknown actor(s) stole the receiver hitch with a two-inch ball from his truck. This case is under investigation.

 

Deputy Alberto Garza and Deputy Calahan Malone responded to a residence on FM 699 in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, Deputy Malone spoke with the complainant who stated that the suspect arrived home and appeared to be intoxicated. Complainant advised that the suspect became angry with her and slammed her into the oven, scratching her on the neck in the process. Deputy Malone did observe a fresh scratch mark on the complainant ' s right side of the neck. Deputy Malone attempted to speak with the suspect to get his side of the story, but he was uncooperative.  The suspect was placed under arrest for assault/family violence and transported to the Panola County Detention Center.

 

Deputy Robert Duncan spoke with a complainant who stated that he was sitting on his front porch when he noticed a blue four door car pulling into his neighbor's residence. He stated the car drove back towards some storage building and struck the garage door. He said that the car then backed out and left. This case is being investigated.

 

 

TUESDAY, 9/4/18

Sgt. Jeff Ivy took a report of theft that occurred on CR 180.

Complainant stated that some unknown actor(s) stole his camper trailer from his property. Complainant described the camper as a 1995 Wilderness bumper pull camper, 24 feet in length. The trailer was entered into TCIC/NCIC as stolen and this case is under investigation.

 

Deputy Joshua Nagle and Deputy Alberto Garza responded to a call of an assault that had already occurred. Upon arrival deputies made contact with the complainant who stated that while she was sitting inside her vehicle a male subject approached her vehicle and began yelling and pointing his finger at her. Complainant stated that she exited the vehicle and the verbal altercation continued. Complainant stated that the subject grabbed the top part of her car door with both of his hands and slammed it into her, causing laceration to her lip and causing her to fall to the inside of the vehicle. Deputy Nagle then made contact with the male subject who stated that the argument had started inside the building, but the complainant followed him outside. The subject advised that the argument continued being heated until the complainant, while throwing her arms and body around and yelling, ran into the door of the car and caused the laceration to her own lip. All information will be forwarded to the DA's office for further investigation.

 

Deputy Heather Green took a report of harassment. Complainant stated that his ex-girlfriend had her son contact him by text message. Complainant advised that he has told both of them not to have any further contact with him. Complainant stated that he has already had to file an assault report against the suspect. Complainant provided copies of the text messages as well as a text message from when he originally told them not to contact him. All information will be forwarded to the DA's office.

 

WEDNESDAY, 9/5/18

 

THURSDAY, 9/6/18

Deputy Jeff Martin responded to a report of an assault that occurred.  Upon arrival, Deputy Martin met with the complainant who stated that while he was at a gas station getting fuel, there was a male subject parked next to him that kept staring at him. Complainant stated that he made a lewd comment to the subject about staring and a verbal argument ensued. Complainant advised that the subject then slapped him in the face which started a fight between him and the subject. Complainant advised that a witness inside the store came out and broke the two of them apart. Complainant stated that the subject then left the store. Deputy Martin was able to locate and make contact with the suspect who gave a written statement about the incident. A record check revealed that the suspect had two outstanding warrants out of Rusk County. The subject was placed under arrest for the warrants and taken to the Panola County Detention Center.

 

Investigator Adam Jones took a report of theft that occurred on FM 31 S. Complainant stated that some unknown actor(s) came onto the property and stole his Fleetwood Wilderness 37' bumper pull camper. This case is being investigated.
