Anderson arrested for allegedly stabbing a victim in the neck

On July 1st the Panola County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call that there was a victim of a stabbing in the parking lot of the Clayton Dollar General store. Deputies arrived and found  a female holding a bloody shirt against the neck of man sitting in a gray Ford pickup. Witnesses reported that the female returned to a residence on CR 199 where she had recently moved away from to retrieve some items she had left behind. Two friends went with her and her former boyfriend, later identified as Carl Jeffery Anderson, age 36, of Gary showed up at the residence and confronted the three of them. An argument began and witnesses say Anderson lunged at the male with a knife stabbing him in the neck. The two females got the victim in the pickup to drive him to the hospital but called 911 and told dispatchers they would wait for the ambulance at the Clayton store. He was transported to the hospital and later flown to UT Health in Tyler. Deputies then responded to the residence on CR 199 and placed Anderson under arrest for Aggravated Assault and his bond has been set at $20,000.
