UPDATE: Single-vehicle crash on FM 1971 in Caledonia on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016

Texas DPS spokeswoman, Jean Dark, reports that the preliminary investigation shows the truck was traveling northbound on FM 1971 just after 5pm in heavy rain and at an unsafe speed before leaving the roadway to the right side, then over-correcting to the left, sliding sideways, crossing the roadway and hitting a tree in the ditch.  

RUSK COUNTY (Caledonia Community) - Single Vehicle Crash on FM 1971

On Thursday, November 3, 2016 at approximately 5:00 p.m., a single vehicle crash involving a pickup truck occurred on FM 1971 near the intersecting county road 3249-D (North of US Hwy 84).  The driver was flown by Flight for Life helicopter to the hospital.

Rusk County EMS, including the Fire Dept. and Champion EMS, were dispatched to the scene.  At the request of Rusk County EMS, Timpson VFD and Timpson VAS were dispatched to assist in extricating the driver.
