Panola College Students Honored For Academic Excellence

Panola College honored 20 students as recipients of the 2016 Academic Excellence Awards in a ceremony held at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 14, in the Q.M. Martin Auditorium.

Nominated by faculty in various academic disciplines, the students had to meet rigorous academic and community involvement criteria established by a faculty committee, chaired by Don Cocklin, professor of psychology.

San Jacinto Day

San Jacinto Day is the celebration of the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. It was the final battle of the Texas Revolution where Texas won its independence from Mexico. It is an official holiday in the State of Texas and will be celebrated on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Don’t forget your fireworks!!

Millionaires's Word Club

Shaun Ritter, a 3rd grader at Gary Elementary, has been added to the Millionaire's Word Club for reading 1,020,994 words so far this year!  He not only earned his spot in the Millionaire's Word Club, he was also awarded a free lunch, of his choice, prepared and delivered by Gary Store!  Shaun Ritter is the son of Stephen and Heather Ritter of Gary, Texas.
