Weekly blessings from Garrison Nursing Home

There is no better way to begin a new week as well as a new month than spending time with dear friends at GNH. You always leave feeling better than when when you arrive. Our hearts were saddened today as we learned of our dear friend Miss Era Billingsley's death but we rejoice in having known her and thankful that the Lord gave her 108 years here on earth and that she is now spending time in heaven. 100 student days down... only 77 more to go!

On Tuesday, February 2nd, in celebration of the 100th day of school, Garrison Pre-K and Kindergarten classes released balloons on the football field. This event is a great way for elementary school teachers to implement the various concepts using the number 100.  From the first day of school, classes begin keeping track of the number of days they’ve been in school in anticipation of the 100th day.   Only 77 more student days to go!!!

U.S.P.S releases stamp in honor of Richard Allen

The U.S. Postal Service today kicked off the national observance of Black History Month with the dedication of a Forever stamp honoring preacher, activist and civic leader Richard Allen for his inspirational life and profound contribution to American history. The ceremony was held at Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, founded by Allen.

UIL reclassification

  The UIL released their reclassification for the 2016-2018 season Monday morning with quite a few changes in our area.
The Center Roughriders will move up to 4A Division 1 in Football and be in Region 3 District 9 with Bullard, Carthage, Henderson, Kilgore, Palestine and Chapel Hill. In Basketball the Roughriders will be in Region 2 District 16 with Carthage, Henderson, Rusk and Tatum.

Scam Alert

According to local residents there has been a serious scam going around east Texas. Residents are getting phone calls from an unknown person claiming to be with the credit card company "Chase".They are targeting everyone and are hitting the elderly even harder. They are asking people to meet them at the B&B and other areas around Timpson so that they can give them a check. Also they are asking people to bring their entire check book with them!
