You are invited to join the Garrison Lions Club

Become a Centennial Lion

Lions Clubs International is the largest humanitarian service organization in the world. Each Club is tailored to its community needs and desires. The Garrison Lions Club was chartered in 1945, immediately following World War Two. Returning soldiers, sailors, and airmen identified a need to re-build the local economy, promote their town, and, serve their community however and whenever possible.

Working much like a Chamber of Commerce or economic development group, the Garrison Lions Club membership included virtually every "key" citizen, businesses owner, church, and education leader in the community. Their untiring efforts raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity over the years. Much of the money raised was distributed locally in the form of education scholarships, community development projects, charity, optical exams, and purchasing eyeglasses. Some dues will also help people in need throughout the world. If you would like to see some of the programs administered by Lions Clubs International please visit their web site at LCI.org .

Initially, women were not allowed to join the Lions. That is not the case anymore. Women around the world now hold "key" positions at every level of the international organization.

We are one of the only Lions Clubs in the United States that owns our own building. Our doors are always open for community use. Plan your baby showers, birthday parties, weddings, business meetings, church services, and fund raising events. Daily rental is $75.00 per day. Clubs such as 4-H, fishing club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, can use the building at no charge, subject to approval.

There is a one time "new member" processing fee of $25.00. After that dues are only $5.00 a month. There is also a half price dues discount when a spouse or family member joins. You can be a member-at-large or you can participate as a active member. Veterans who apply for membership can enjoy a waiver of the "new member" processing fee until 2020. Either way, you are helping us make Garrison a better place to live, pray, and play.

As the local economy improves and more people move back to the Garrison area we are at the perfect time and place to develop the next generation of Lions. Your participation will bring new ideas and energy. This is the time to get involved and establish your own Lion legacy.

The Garrison Lions Club has celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Lionism. Our Centennial goal is to make Garrison the "Biggest Little Town in Texas" again. Call us today at (936) 347-5223 for more information or see Jeff Crews at BanCorpSouth in Garrison.
