Gov. Abbott Signs Sam’s Law

AUSTIN – On Tuesday, July 11th, Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 684 (HB 684), Sam’s Law, which was authored by State Representative Travis Clardy. HB 684 honors the memory of Samantha Watkins, a Kilgore ISD student who passed away from complications of a seizure in December 2016.

July 4th Fireworks Display

The Tenaha Businessmen’s will sponsor a fireworks display on July 4th at the Tenaha ISD Football field. At 6:00 pm the Tenaha ToGetherNess will begin serving BBQ Plate (includes drink) and The Pleasant Mountain Boys Quartet will provide music until the fireworks begin.

Ms. Rebecca Mathis, a student at Timpson High School, was awarded a Hagan Scholarship to attend Stephen F. Austin State University to study Accounting.

The Hagan Scholarship is a need-based merit scholarship, providing up to $6,000 
each semester to help recipients graduate college debt free.  Hagan Scholars from 
44 states will attend 325 colleges and universities in the fall semester of 2019.

Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board to Receive $150 Million for Flood Control Dam Infrastructure Projects

TEMPLE – Projects to repair and rehabilitate flood control structures across Texas will now be funded thanks to a $150 million appropriations bill legislators passed this session. The Governor signed the bill into law on June 6, 2019.
