Garrison Bulldogs looking for redemption

After a  4-6 season last year, and a 57-13 first round playoff loss to Franklin High School, the Garrison Bulldogs football team wants to make changes to their team that would return them to where they were in 2013. Two seasons ago, the Bulldogs went 11-1 before being uprooted by state ranked Centerville ISD in the second round of the playoffs.

Tigers fighting to keep winning ways

The Tenaha Tigers have expectations set high for them in 2015. THS has made it to the state semifinal round of the UIL football playoff for the past four consecutive years. In 2011 the Tigers took home the Class 1A Division II title, went back to the title game but fell short in 2012, and went back to the semifinal round in 2013 and 2014, losing to Bremond last year by a narrow 32-29 score and finishing their season with an 11-2 record.

Timpson Bears ready to see where they stand

Last year the Timpson Bears struggled in pre-district play and went into conference play with a very unimpressive 0-4 record before winning two straight District 11 Class 2A games to begin conference play. Timpson eventually went 4-1 in league play and won their first playoff matchup with Evadale in a thrilling 45-39 win before being unseated by Chilton 33-7 in the second round of post-season play.

Timpson RIF leads to serious allegations and investigation

            City Council held its Regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 5:30pm in City Hall.  Mayor Smith called the meeting to order followed by Invocation, United States Pledge, and Texas Pledge.  Paul Smith, President of Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce, announced that Dollar General Store found property in the city limits to build their new store.  Building is expected to begin as early as September 2015.  Smith also thanked the Nix’s, Don Burrows, Kevin Bradford and othe

Garrison Middle School Cheerleader news

The Garrison Middle School Cheer Squad attended a UCA Camp this Summer. They earned the highest ranking- Blue Superior- each evening at evaluations.  On the last day of camp they completed an Extreme Routine and earned the 1st place trophy.
 
The Squad is ready for football season and would like to invite everyone to their first game in Center, Texas, September 10th at 4:30. Go Bulldogs!

Two communities help with back to school supplies

 
The HOPE Project in Tenaha has always been a big supporter at Mission Carthage when it came to Back to School supplies. “Why don’t we start a Back to School Bash for our own Shelby County kids,” stated Loraine Osby from HOPE Project. “I think our kids need help with school supplies too.” So the Clinic began their mission to collect money donations and supply donations for the Shelby County children.

Tenaha City Council meets for August agenda

The Tenaha City Council met for a regular meeting on Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Tenaha Municipal Building. Mayor Orinthia Johnson called the meeting to order and welcomed the guests. Councilmen Michael Baker and Durand Steadman were not present at the meeting. There were no public comments.

The Council unanimously approved the minutes from the last meeting and the July Financial statements.
