Timpson Booster Club Makes Donation

Timpson  – Timpson Athletic Booster Club President C.T. Simpson recently presented a donation to Alto Superintendent Kerry Birdwell and Athletic Director Paul Gould in memory of Alto football player Cam’ron Matthews.  Cam’ron passed away after collapsing on the sidelines during an Alto game this fall.  Mr. Simpson also presented a card that students and staff had signed expressing their sorrow over Cam’ron death and to offer encouragement to the Alto ISD students and staff.

TAGHS Installs 2016 Officers at Annual Christmas Party

Members of the Timpson Area Genealogical and Heritage Society mixed business with pleasure last Wednesday when they held their annual Christmas party and installed their new officers for 2016. Members met in the Fellowship Hall of Timpson First United Methodist Church and enjoyed a delicious covered-dish luncheon before the new officers were sworn in by Mayor Debra Smith.

Joaquin man arrested for allegedly directing a sexual performance by a child

Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell announces the arrest of Dakota Ray Smith, 21 of Joaquin on December 5, 2015.

Investigators with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) discovered on or about November 10, 2015, Smith created a fictitious account through social media where he portrayed himself as a female. Smith contacted underage children in an attempt to obtain inappropriate photographs.

Thelma Lee Powers Brito

Graveside service for Thelma Lee Powers Brito will be Thursday December 10, 2015, at Blair Cemetery, with Bro. Carroll Jones officiating. 

Mrs. Brito was born November 17, 1919, in Blair Community.  Thelma Lee  Powers Brito was the daughter of the late Ellis Powers and Victoria Brown Powers.  She was a loving wife.  Thelma enjoyed collecting trinkets, and among those her favorite was spoons she collected from everywhere she visited.

   Our attendance was down for Sunday School  on Sunday morning, guess they waited for the preaching. The church was pretty full for the morning service. We did have visitors.
We decorated our sanctuary Christmas tree which is pretty easy. Everyone puts an ornament on the tree, so it goes pretty fast.
