Investigators puzzled in Garrison Murder Suicide

Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Investigators are still trying to determine why a man shot his common-law wife and then himself in a murder-suicide that occurred last Thursday afternoon near Garrison.
 Sheriff Deputies responded to the couple’s home on FM 138 after 81-year old Ira Clifton Burgay sent a text message to a relative who lives out of town, stating he had killed his wife, 72-year old Dawn Bradley Lang.

Texas Sales Tax Holiday

This year’s Sales Tax Holiday is Aug. 7 - 9. As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.

Timpson Chamber News

The Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce met on Thursday, July 16, 2015, for its regular monthly meeting.

President Paul Smith said, “This was the biggest and best Frontier Days in a number of years.    We were able to hold the crowd on Saturday all day long starting with the parade which was great with lots of antique cars and horses.  One of the most fun events was the Greased Pig contest.”

  Our attendance was back up on Sunday morning, maybe because this was youth weekend at Ramah. It started Friday night with visitation around Tenaha. Saturday was the Youth Bash. They had games food and lots of fun, so I was told.
