Bear Update

Bond Election Information – If the TISD bond passes, one of the projects is a new Vocational/Technical Education building with four classrooms.  The district will be able to offer more certification classes that will allow students to be job ready upon high school graduation and prepared to enter the job market.  Courses that could be offered that would lead to certification are General Office, Marketable Skills, Microsoft Office, Medic First Aid CPR/AED Compliance, Petroleum Technolog

Students added to Millionaire's Word Club

Kaitlyn Beasley, a 6th grader at Gary Elementary, has been added to the Millionaire's Word Club for reading 1,080,682 words so far this year!  She not only earned her spot in the Millionaire's Word Club, she was also awarded a free lunch, of her choice, prepared and delivered by Gary Store!  Kaitlyn Beasley is the Granddaughter of Helen Wells of Gary, Texas.

Senior Baccalaureate Service hosted by First Baptist Church

The 2016 Timpson Senior class, their families, friends, teachers, administrators and members of the community filled God's house Sunday night for the annual Baccalaureate Service. First Baptist Church hosted the event with the assistance of other churches and Ms. Janiece Carrington. Brother Richard Jones, FBC interim pastor, brought the message which began with what baccalaureate means: a farewell service for graduating seniors at which a sermon is delivered.

Millionaire's Word Club

Garrison PD alerts citizens of IRS scams

Garrison Police Department has received citizen complaints on automated phone scams claiming to be from IRS. The calls state that IRS has filed a suit against the caller, prompting them to call another number. Please be aware that the IRS will NOT call you. They will ONLY contact you by mail. GPD is urging citizens to not give  any information as this call is fraudulent.

Garrison PD seizes 34 grams of cocaine

May 4th, 2016 during the early morning hours the Garrison Police Department had a vehicle stopped for  a traffic offense.  While searching the vehicle, the officer discovered approximately 34 grams of crack cocaine in the floorboard.  Carmen Bussey B/F of Shreveport, La and Charles Calhoun Jr. of Nacogdoches were both arrested and transported to Nacogdoches County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled substance Penalty Group 1>=4g<200, a second degree felony.
