Things to Consider 5/7/19

We are a fortunate people; I am speaking of those of us that serve a living God such as we do. But unfortunately, we are also a people that take our God for granted. I believe that this is the case for all believers save for a very few. Too many times in my life, I have not honored God in the way that I should have. Let me ask you a question, where in the Bible are the Ten Commandments found? To make a confession I had to look them up myself. These ten Commandments are the foundation that our society is to live by. All our laws are tied into them in some way. Chapter20: verse 1and 2 “And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the House of bondage.” This verse sets precedent as to what shall follow. God is saying that He is the one that is able to lead you and me through life, if we truly put our trust, faith, and belief in Him. Verse 3 “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” To put it simply, our personal activities rather or not they conflict concerning our worship or following of God, but remember this, God does not want us to be followers because that is what He wants, rather He wants us to be followers because that is what we want. To follow God is truly a decision that each person must make on their own. Our decision to follow is personal and unique, it is not anyone else’s we all have different gifts and qualities that fit into God’s plan. Many people will be willing to get you and me to do as they are doing in their following of God. If we were all the same, then we would be all preachers, teachers, or doers and the list goes on. Some are arms to do work, some are feet to carry the loads, some are eyes to see what needs to be done. ETC. 1Corinthians 12:12 “For the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.” According to this verse, no matter what your gift is, you are a member of the whole body. I am not a Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, but I can tell of Jesus to others who might become a great preacher in his or her own right. Take a look at the late Billy Graham., he and another young man attended a meeting in which they sat in the choir in the attempt to sit behind the preacher because they did not want him to direct everything he said to them. These two sat in the choir in order not to be preached to, well we all know the complete story, Billy Graham and his friend, Grady Wilson, both went down to the alter. Billy Graham was saved, and Grady Wilson dedicated his life to Christian service. So in being of one body with one God, and following Him we as one member can influence someone that might bring many to the service of God. To have no other gods before Him is a personal decision we all have to make. Will we put Him into our decision making, or will we allow the worlds situation to dictate our choices. What is your choice. You decide! As always respectfully yours Roger and Donna Harding 472 CR 4775, Timpson, Texas 75975
