Things to Consider 5/23/19
Just this morning as I struggled with my lazy self, and my get up and go side won out as I listened to the news on television, the horrible news came over the broadcast that one officer was killed and two are in the hospital with unknown injuries at this time.
My prayers for the families and officers are on my lips even as I pen this article. Please keep those families in Auburn, Alabama in your prayers. This horrible news coming this morning, is a trend that happens too often throughout this mighty nation.
For months I have been pondering this subject and others, because the words of Christ Jesus as His disciples came to Him and asked what will be the signs of the end of days. Let us have a look at Matthew 24:5 Jesus warns of wars and rumors of wars, an unrest of the whole world as nation goes against nation, and in verse 8 a stern warning is given. “All these are the BEGINNING of sorrows.”
My friends we are in the end times, an end time that could last for many more years or conclude its course in just a few short years. I do not know, but I bid all not to be deceived as Jesus warns in verse 4. As I watch the news I see the buildup of forces in the middle East The USS Abraham Lincoln, USS John C. Stennis just to name two air craft carrier groups, and also a bomber taskforce is deployed as a show of force to counter Iran’s threats.
Equally a carrier fleet has been sent to the Pacific Ocean the USS America LHA, is a new type of attack aircraft carrier that my family and I attended the Christening of her a few years ago. Back in the mid-seventies while deployed to the Middle East I was stationed on the USS America CV66. We spent sixty-eight days off the coast of Lebanon as our Embassies were evacuated.
Back then I had no thought of Jesus saying about wars and rumors of wars, but today it makes a very different impact on my thoughts as I realize that Jesus spoke of these things over 2,000 years ago. My friends just as the words spoken by Timothy in 2 Timothy 3, 1-4 “This known, that in the last day’s perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, mindbreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that do good. Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God.
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof from such turn away, “I ask you don’t we see wars and hear of rumors of wars? Are not nations going against nations? This is the beginning. Don’t we see men loving themselves and not caring for others. We also know people that speak against the existence of God. To put things into perspective, don’t we know of people that have done all the things spoken of by Jesus, and the words that Timothy penned over 2,000 years ago.
I could go on and on about things that are coming true that was spoken in the words recorded in the book that we call the New Testaments. It only takes a person a few minutes a day to read the words of God in order that he or she will become knowledgeable of the truth of God concerning this young man that took the life of the brave officer, is not this a sign of a person that has not God in his life?
Not to judge him, but his life choices go against the teachings of Jesus, But remember all sins have been paid for by the Blood of Jesus when He died upon that cross over 2,000 years. So even that man can ask forgiveness and will be forgiven by the spilled blood of Christ. As always respectfully yours, Roger and Donna Harding, 472 County Road, Timpson, Texas 75975.
