I’d like to say Happy New Year to everyone. I hope this year will be a good one for you.
Our attendance was down on Sunday morning. I guess some are trying to get over the holidays. We do still have members out sick, as well. We are praying for their speedy recovery.
We didn’t have any birthdays this week. Bro Keith and Valerie celebrated 34th Wedding Anniversary. We put these names on our prayer list: Becky Just, Jerry Smith, Mekenzie Hill and Woody Shriever.
Bro Keith took his message from Acts 17:18. When Paul was preaching Jesus unto the Athenians, they wanted to hear something new. It is like the people today, they want something new. We don’t need a new gospel. We have the Bible that teaches us the one and only gospel. 1 Corinthains 15:1-4 tells us so. Churches today are trying to entertain, to draw a crowd. Numbers don’t count with God. They are wanting approval. They think maybe a new style of songs is needed, instead of the old ones. We don’t need anything new or different. There is only one way. John 14:6, Jesus says “I am the way the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me”. We certainly don’t need a new church. Matthew 16:18, Jesus, talking to Peter, said upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Nothing new coming up. We have prayer meeting on Wednesday nights, starting at 7:00. Also our youth meet. Everyone is invited.
