'Riders slip past Bulldogs for third straight win

The Center Roughriders varsity football team came away with their third straight road win last Friday. The ‘Riders captured  a 26-23 victory over the Jasper Bulldogs. Center is now 3-1 on the season and haven’t lost since their first home game, on Week 1, to the Waskom Wildcats.
Center took a 6-0 lead when Kyle Parks hit Jaterious Evans for a 51-yard touchdown pass completion which gave the Roughriders the first lead.

Local lady finds balloon from Kansas with messege

Iletha Adams of Timpson (Huber Community) came into the office Monday, September 14 with an interresting story. She said she walked outside on this beautiful fall like day and found a pink balloon with a message tied to it. The message says: To my dear husband who passed away here. It travelled all the way from Hutchinson, Ks.! Iletha wasn’t sure what to do with the note so she brought it in to us to try to find the owner, so she would know where it ended up.

County 4-H Gold Star banquet on Sunday, September 20

4-H members, family and friends are cordially invited to attend our annual Shelby County 4-H Gold Star banquet on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Center Community House-Rock Building in Center, Texas.  We will be honoring this year’s Shelby County Gold Star recipient and special awards will be presented to “I Dare You” and “Friend of 4-H” recipients.  We will also be recognizing our project leaders and club managers.

One of my daughters was the “tattle tale” of the children.  When Amber heard the others planning something secretive, she’d jump up, strut out of room warning, “I’m telling!”  She reminded me of “the informer” in Bill Cosby’s family.
