Watermelon Event Winners

Cogswell grows largest watermelon

 

Doug Cogswell, son of Ellen Cogswell of Joaquin and the late Nolan Cogswell, won the prize for the largest watermelon grown in Shelby County in 2015. His watermelon weighed in at 96.0 lbs.

Second place went to Jenny Johnson, with a watermelon weighing 87.0 lbs; and Olivia Johnson placed third, with a watermelon weighing 84.0 lbs.

Center eliminated from state tourney by White Oak's comeback

On Tuesday, July 7 the Center 13 and 14 year old baseball team faced off with White Oak  during a Texas Dixie League State Tournament game. Center came in facing elimination after beating Henderson and losing to Sulphur Springs. White Oak came in with a loss to Sulphur Springs and a win over Huntington and also faced elimination.
