Walker County Whizbang

The 1st annual Walker County Whiz-bang was held in Madisonville at the Madisonville County 4h range.  This shoot is a two day shoot with juniors and intermediates shooting on Saturday, June 27th and seniors shooting on Sunday.   Shelby County 4h shooters had four kids participating; Seth Shamblin, Lance Holloway, Logan Holloway and Konner Windham. Junior Division: Seth Shamblin 2nd  skeet, 3rd whiz-bang.Intermediates:  

Center state tournament action is in full swing

Center Dixie League Youth baseball had four teams participating in the state baseball tournament held at Center’s Lion’s Ballpark. Center’s Coach Pitch Large Division kicked off local action on the Fourth of July. They held a 10-6 lead in the fifth inning but saw Athens make a comeback to win in a late inning rally by a 13-10 margin.
Center later lost to Bullard in their second game.

Lloyd Sunfield “Shine” Fleming was the seventh of eight children of Oscar Hansford and Lois Ora Bush Fleming who were married on December 4th, 1904.  Shine as he was known to all was born in Shelby County Texas on March, 12, 1918 and had five older brothers, Paul, Rowe, Graydon, Joel and Jeff, one older sister, Eula and a younger brother Bryan.  They lived on Upper Arcadia Road where his Dad was a grocer.

 

Holiday Nursing Center recognizes CNA's

Holiday Nursing Center recently celebrated CNA Week to recognize the love, dedication and care that our CNA’s have for our residents.    The entire week was a “Fear Factor” themed event where participants chose to Dig for a magic key, taste, smell & recognize a variety of “things” all while being blindfolded!  The week ended with an appreciation cookout and awards on Friday.    Pam Maes had the Magic Key that unlocked $50.  Alexis Young mustered through to win the Fear Factor and $100.  C
