Center Roughriders thrash the Groesbeck Goats

Giving up just one hit, the Center Roughriders swept Games 1 and 2 of their Class 2A Area baseball series with the Groesbeck Goats Last Friday.
The ‘Riders got a no-hit performance from pitcher Kam Owens in a 17-0 Game 1 win, followed by a one-hitter by teammate Caden Rainbolt while winning Game 2 by a 12-2 score.
During Game 1 Center defeated the Goats by out hitting them 17-0.
Game 2 saw Rainbolt give up a single hit to the game’s lead-off hitter and then not give up another hit during the 12-2, six inning, game.
Center out hit the Goats by a 9-1 margin. Rainbolt struck out nine batters and only walked three batsmen during the win.
A Jacob Mitchell sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning drove home ‘Riders teammate Taylor Tomlin which enforced the ten run rule and ended the contest.
Center’s pitchers struck out sixteen batters in the two-game series with the Goats. The ‘Riders out hit the Goats 26-1 during the series.
The ‘Riders will now face the Hudson Hornets in a three-game series with all games being played at Gary High School. Hudson represents District 20 4A with a 7-2 conference mark and a 21-10 overall standing. They swept Lorena High School in two games last weekend.
Game 1 is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. Game 2 will be at 7 p.m. Friday May, 22. Game 3, if necessary, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23.
