Heather Lagrone of Texas General Land Office Recipient of DETCOG Star Partner Award
Heather Lagrone of the Texas General Land Office is this year’s recipient of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) Star Partner Award. The award recognizes someone in a state or federal agency that DETCOG works with closely. The award was announced Thursday by the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) Executive Director Lonnie Hunt at the organization’s Membership Meeting in Lufkin.
In announcing the award Hunt said, “We are blessed to have a lot of outstanding partners at both the state and federal level. From those agencies I have a pretty long list of contenders that would be deserving of this award. But Heather is at the top of that list.”
Hunt went on to note, “In the last dozen or so years, we’ve had our share of natural disasters in the State of Texas, and right here in Deep East Texas. Heather’s knowledge and expertise with federally funded disaster recovery programs – and her ability to help us maneuver through the maze and access the funding -- is nothing short of amazing. She always seeks the input of local communities and regions and emphasizes the importance of local control and local decision making.”
In closing the presentation Hunt quoted Ginny Lewis of the Texas Association of Regional Councils, “Heather is small and mighty with a heart of gold. She is deserving of this award and any other bestowed upon her.”
