East Texas Press welcomes newest team member; Social Media Editor
East Texas Press is proud to announce its newest team member, Dr. Marsha Ann Barnett. Marsha lives in Joaquin with her husband Billy D. Barnett (lovingly referred to as Pop D) and is known throughout Shelby County. She has two sons, 2 beautiful grandchildren, and a cat who is her sounding board.
The Texas Press Association recently contacted us concerning the large number of print newspaper closings all through the state of Texas and were impressed that we were one of, if not THE only newspaper that puts out a complete newspaper-style format in electronic form. TPA was very impressed that we have kept our advertising base and want to use our “newspaper” as an example that others may follow. Owner, Chad Pate, had the foresight to realize that electronic media is the way to reach much more than our own communities and by increasing presence on Facebook while directing readers to our website, it was nothing but a big WIN for our advertisers. Who better to represent East Texas Press on social media than Marsha Ann? Give Marsha Barnett a little rope and she will lasso anything close to her! She loves East Texas and is truly a fighter for what she has sloganed “CommUnity”.
Marsha Barnett has been a regular submitter for East Texas Press for some time now and her columns, “Shooting the Breeze with Marsha Ann” and “Lupus Life: The story of struggle” are among our reader's favorites. Whether as a campaign manager, a public relations representative, fundraiser activist, working in her therapy studio named Studio on the 9’s, or just someone to cheer you up when you are down, she is the go-to person. We are very pleased to be working with this special lady and know she will go above and beyond her title of Social Media Editor.
Thank you for coming aboard Marsha Barnett, many great things are in store for not only East Texas Press but East Texas.
