DETCOG Honors Wilmore for Contributing to its Success

The Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) honored a staff member Thursday for their contribution to its success.  Program Administrator in the STAR Program (Services to At-Risk Youth), Dora Wilmore, was presented with the DETCOG “Key Contributor” award at its membership meeting in Lufkin.

In making the presentation DETCOG President Lynn Torres noted Wilmore had been with DETCOG nearly 39 years, “Her first day on the job was July 2, 1979, starting in what was then called the Manpower program.  She has been a dedicated employee – and a versatile one.  Through the years she has worked in Criminal Justice, Housing, and the Area Agency on Aging.  Dora Wilmore has always done whatever needed to be done for ALL of DETCOG.”

DETCOG wrapped up its “50 years of Service” celebration at the annual meeting.  It has recognized its “founding fathers” and past presidents from each county this past year as it moved through the 12 county region with its monthly board meetings.  In June the DETCOG Board will be meeting in Nacogdoches.
