Helping Hands - SC Senior Nutrition Site Meals on Wheels – SA Senior Nutrition Site – Unique Boutique

Shelby County Outreach Ministries have several programs under our umbrella. Helping Hands Outreach Center provided 2,125 emergency food boxes to families in Shelby County in 2016. We assisted over 3,117 needs in client assistance through emergency food boxes, prescription assistance, Doctor/Dental visits, Ensure Program, utilities, and other needs. We were also able to give fans to seniors, school supplies to children, provide a free Community Thanksgiving Dinner, and toys for families in need at Christmas. We provided over $ 100,000 in client assistance in 2016. Director: Patsy Jackson

Our Senior Nutrition Site provided seniors with 9,837 nutritious meals, as well as companionship and entertainment. We also provided 11,295 meals to shut-ins through our Meals on Wheels Program. We ask of a donation of $3.00 from seniors to help cover the cost of food.

The Unique Boutique is our resale shop which help fund our ministry. We receive donations from individuals of house hold item such as clothes, shoes, furniture, dishes and other miscellaneous donations. These donations are all tax deductible.

These donations are sold in our resale shop and also given to needy families that may have lost their home due to a house fire.

Hours of operation: 9-4 Monday –Friday Please do not leave donations on weekend.

The need for 2017 is so great, the number of food boxes increased from 132 to 273 being served through the Shelby county Outreach Ministries. Inc. Ms. Harding wants all to know that donations can be made at anytime, and dropped off at the address above.

The food collections for March consists of any can goods, rice, and beans. The real need is for canned meats such as canned ham, tuna, chicken, or roast beef. Any canned food that is collected will be most appreciated.
