East Texas Press Patriot Luncheon
This morning the staff of East Texas Press had the honor of paying tribute to the lives lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks and to show our appreciation to local first responders. There was a great turnout and several different agencies were present. Judge Jackie Kirkwood opened with prayer then spoke of his memories of 9/11. After Kirkwood spoke, Republican Candidate for Shelby County Sheriff Joey Hudnall, handed out certificates of appreciation to City of Center Chief Jim Albers, City of Tenaha Chief Jeremy Pope, and City of Garrison Chief Tim Barton for their ongoing commitment to our community. Jane Amburn Robbins handed out certificates of appreciation to "Harvey Heroes" Candidate Joey Hudnall and Michael Paul Kay for being a part of a team that helped save the lives of her family during Hurricane Harvey. Troy Jones was also part of that team but was unable to be there today. Jane spoke about how the men had helped save numerous family members who were stranded in their homes during Hurricane Harvey. Hudnall remembered every moment of the rescuing of her family. Moments like these are why those of us at East Texas Press chose to host the Patriot Day Luncheon. It was a very memorable day and look forward to next years luncheon. I think we will need a bigger room! Support our commUNITY.
