Center Police Department Apprehends Pawn Shop Burglar

On August 8, 2018 at approximately 11:53 p.m. a Center Police officer observed a black male standing next to a restaurant on Tenaha St. holding an assault rifle. As the officer exited his patrol unit, he advised the suspect to drop the weapon several times, at which time the suspect dropped the weapon and took off running. The officer began to pursue the suspect on foot and observed that the suspect had a second weapon in his other hand. The suspect then rounded a corner and the officer lost sight of him. The officer located the suspect a short time later hiding in bushes at which time he was arrested. Officers located two more handguns in the area where the suspect had been hiding.
Officers observed that all the recovered guns contained pawn shop tags from Bob's Pawn and Gun. Officers then traveled to the Pawn shop and found that it had been burglarized. The suspect was identified at Jerrad Dewayne Kinney (33 year old) of Center, Texas. Kinney was charged with Burglary of a Building, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, and Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant.
