Shooting the Breeze with Marsha Ann
I have been asked numerous times who has been my favorite person to Shoot the Breeze with. My Dad is my favorite. Sorry if that hurts anyone’s feeling but when I shot the breeze with my Dad, I got him to talk about another side of Vietnam. I knew about the war side, I wanted to know about the tiny bits of joy he might have experienced there. Even though he is my favorite, I have several favorite answers. Here are just a few:
If you could be any color crayon, what color would you be?
Black because I would have absorbed all of the other colors.~Linsey Shaeffer
What do you love most about yourself?
The thing I love best about myself is my ability to communicate with people and meet them where they’re at. If I have one special gift, this is it. It is not my place to judge or ridicule. I have a heart for the hurting and often the ability to help them but need them to open up and let me know what is going on. It is then that I can use my skills and expertise to lead them out of an abusive or painful situation.~Cindy Carswell
If a documentary of your life was made, what would be your favorite scene be and
I have too many favorite scenes in my life to count them all. I love to remember when my dad led me to faith in Jesus. I love the scene when I got married because next to Jesus, my wife and best friend completes me. I love the 4 scenes of the births of my children. I love the scene of the birth of my granddaughter. I love the scenes of my children getting married. I love all of the scenes of my life. They might not be very interesting to anyone else, but I love every moment of my life. Even the scenes of defeat, because they make me who I am.~John Whitworth
When you are having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better?
Music has always been my escape. I’m a musician, drummer, as well. I like getting together with other musician friends and playing. It’s a great way to relieve stress. I also love to hunt and fish. Between spending time with my family, being active in my church, working two jobs, and campaigning for Shelby County Sheriff, I just don’t have a lot of time to hunt or fish, but I do as often as I can. I feel close to God when I am in nature.~Joey Hudnall
These are just a few of my favorites. I am thinking about making a mini book out of some of the questions I have asked Shooting the Breeze with folks. If you have a favorite, please email me at Marsha@EastTexasPress.com
